The eagles have landed!

A new family has moved into the area. In early April, people started talking about random sightings of an eagle flying by or perched in a tree. Then there were sightings of two at once, either resting nearby to each other in trees or circling overhead. Gradually, as the sightings became almost a daily occurrence, it became clear that it was a family of two adults and a juvenile that seemed to have established a nearby nest. They seem to like the west end of the lake, and are often seen flying low over the water, and perhaps scooping up a fish, before gaining altitude and eventually flying to other areas.

Here, I’ve started a photo gallery of the ones I’ve seen (and been able to get a decent shot of), but if you have any photos you’d like to include here, please sent them to news@lakelucille.org. I’d like to see this be a living gallery of eagle photos. Enjoy! –Rik Paul
