Lake Lucille’s fishing derby has brought fond memories and happy faces to generations of our community’s kids. This year, Aileen McDonald again stepped up to make it happen. Despite heat concerns and a last-minute rescheduling to take advantage of cooler morning air, the derby was well attended, with 14 kids vying for the bites. As usual, the derby was held at the Baby Lake for any kids, 13 or under. All kids get a prize at the end, and several families supported Aileen with a well-stocked table of bagels, munchies, and drinks. Vito and Matthew Russo kept the tally and provided hands-on support for the kids. Thanks to all who helped!

This year, Chloe Walsh caught the most fish (26), followed by Beau Dauksza (22), and Violet McDonald and John Cernuda (tied at 16 each). Beau also caught the largest: a whopping 10-inch bass. Click on the pictures below to see them larger. Photos by Rik Paul and Jessica Dauksza.
